Contemporary Artist

  • C08

Riyadh-based multidisciplinary artist Hmoud Alattawi explores the many myths surrounding Saudi Arabian history, while highlighting the role of women in strengthening the country’s culture across generations, tracing the influence of his home education as well as his upbringing. What initially started off as drawing and painting saw its way into multiple other artistic mediums, including sculptures, installations, prints, photography, and interactive artworks.

Alongside being a practicing artist, Alattawi is one of the co-founders of Wasm Studio, alongside Dr. Saad Howede, where he fulfills his role as an art educator which informs and directs his artistic practice continually. Additionally, as an art educator he is continually developing his anthropological research into the history of the Kingdom.

Alattawi has exhibited widely across the MENASA region, including at Misk Art Institute, Riyadh. He has been included in the Diriyah Biennale and la Biennale di Venezia.

Established in 2016, Wasm Studio is on a mission to support emerging artists across the Kingdom, whilst promoting artist and cultural exchange among creators.
